Make your CV stand out by entering a competition, award or prize

Competitions, prizes and awards are a great way for you to gain experience for your CV and often some cash or work experience. Many competitions require you to work in a team / produce innovative ideas / work to a brief / write a report, all great skills to put on your CV even if you don't win!

Most recently added competitions at the top. Many run every year check entry and closing dates.

  • Siemens SustainaCity Racer competition Virtual challenge taking place on Saturday 21 November where engineering, technology and business students will be put into teams and will work together virtually to use their creativity to overcome a variety of challenges. The winning team will be considered for an internship or graduate programme at Siemens, as well as receiving a £250 Amazon voucher and an engraved trophy for each member. Everyone taking part will receive a LinkedIn endorsement from Siemens. Application deadline 1 November 2020.
  • L'Oreal Brandstorm Competition Annual competition to innovate the next generation of retail.
  • Hilti IT Competition Define the future of remote work and collaboration in the construction industry. Undergraduate and postgraduate students from all parts of the globe are encouraged to participate to not only display their innovative ideas but also pave a way to kick-start great careers. Registration for the competition closes on the 30th of November 2020 and prizes include a sponsored study trip to one of HILTI’s IT Strategic Locations (Malaysia, Switzerland or the United States), fast track career opportunities for roles with Hilti and Hilti power tools.
  • TATA Consultancy Services Codevita Competition Registrations for Global Phase open until 1 December 2020.
  • Future Legal Mind Annual law essay competition run by National Accident Helpline to find the UK’s brightest legal prospect. Competition is open to law students and to legal trainees who are within the first two years of their careers.
    The winner will receive a £2,000 prize fund to support their career development and will take part in mentoring with experienced lawyers from the National Accident Helpline team.
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) Educate Challenge Sign up to build cloud computing skills, earn digital credentials for your CV and win prizes. Winners will get to meet with Amazon Student Recruiters to learn about the Amazon interview process and win a trophy for your university, Amazon vouchers, and Alexa devices. The Challenge runs 5 October 2020 to 23 November 2020.
  • Capgemini Invent Cup Annual case study competition. Learn key consulting skills, work on a real case study and find out about their graduate consulting program. You'll need to work in a small team on a Capgemini case study, competing against each other to win the Cup and an exciting prize!   • Unicode competition 2020 Complete in bi-weekly challenges, sponsored by some of the UK's top tech employers, and online coding league. Top prize is a trip to San Francisco.
  • Autocar: Drivers of Change competition Write a few words and create a short video explaining an ideathat will benefit the car industry. The winner from each of the 3 categories will receive £5000 and the opportunity to network with the best in the industry at the annual SMMT dinner.
  • Open Democracy - visions of a world after Covid-19 competition
  • Manchester Actions App Competition Can you make apps? This is the perfect opportunity for you to contribute to a project with guaranteed impact (and win some money in the process!) Not only will the winner get an amazing experience for their CV and portfolio, they'll also win £500, mentoring from a successful Manchester digital agency and a range of other opportunities!
  • Shopee Code League Open to students in Singapore, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam. Cash prizes and chance to win an internship or full-time role at Shopee.

  • Student ambassador competition Open to students starting their first year of Masters or PhD study in the next academic year. The winner will receive £6,000 and be our ambassador for the following year.
