Equality and Social Mobility
At Manchester we want to enable fairer access to a wide range of graduate jobs for talented students regardless of their background – this is central to our values as a world class University.
The Careers Service offers a number of schemes and projects to students that aim to enhance and develop employability and personal skills, whilst also raising awareness of the variety of different careers opportunities available.
Work Experience Bursaries
The Careers Service has a bursary fund which is open to full-time undergraduate students. We want to help you with the costs of undertaking careers related work experience. This might be unpaid, a low paid role or where there are additional costs associated with taking up the opportunity (i.e. travel)
Student Experience Internships
We understand that internships are a great way of building up work experience to achieve the graduate job of your choice. The Careers Service run our own internship scheme, Student Experience Internships (SEI).
The scheme offers pre-final year undergraduates the opportunity to undertake an internship either within the University, or in a charity/not-for-profit organisation. All SEI internships will be paid, full-time and last up to eight weeks.
Additionally, those who obtain an internship will have access to a number of exclusive training and development opportunities over the course of the summer.
Global Graduates
We know employers are increasingly seeking to recruit ‘global graduates’ – graduates who see the world through a wider lens and who have both global knowledge and cultural agility.
Global Graduates is an exclusive programme for students at The University of Manchester giving them the opportunity to meet and network with alumni in one of our host cities across the world, which have included New York, Dubai, Singapore, Hong Kong.
