Retail banking
Jobs in this area are usually seen to be in high street offices of banks but at graduate level, opportunities can be across a wide range of roles with in the bank, for example credit cards, mortgages, human resources, technology, finance, branch management, business lending, marketing and private banking.
The traditional role of starting at the bottom and working your way up through a series of disciplines over many years to a senior manager's position doesn't usually apply these days to graduate entrants. You will need to know the business but this is usually accomplished through short attachments where you will be expected to assimilate a great deal of information in a short time and begin to demonstrate management skills.
