Competitions, prizes and awards are a great way for you to gain experience for your CV and often some cash or work experience. Many competitions require you to work in a team / produce innovative ideas / work to a brief / write a report, all great skills to put on your CV even if you don't win!

- BOSS University 2026 This year, students will take charge of a virtual digital marketing agency, making decisions about pricing, marketing, recruitment and finances while competing against university teams from around the world. Compete for €2,000 in total cash prizes awarded to the top three teams and their supervisors. Registration deadline: 31 October 2026. Competition: 5 November – 13 December 2026. Team: 3 students + 1 lecturer-supervisor
- Bolt Burdon Kemp's 'Design the Change' Competition Create innovative, empathetic and practical design solutions that improve the lives of people with spinal cord injuries. Identify a real-world problem, explore it through research and development, and propose a final concept that genuinely supports independence and accessibility. Prizes for 2026-27 include £5,000 for the winning entry and £2,500 for the runner-up. Open to undergraduate students working individually or in teams of up to 4. Submissions open on 14th October 2026. Closing date: 4 May 2027 23:59 (BST)
