Future Focus Week 2024

Future Focus Week is a weeklong programme of online and on-campus activity for final year students and recent graduates. Packed with careers sessions and support, it's designed to help you transition from university to your next steps.

Please note: many of the events are hybrid, which means you can join online or on-campus.

Monday, 10 June

  • The What, When and How of Graduate Jobs (11am-12pm noon) Join this fast-paced session to find out about the different types of graduate jobs available, where to find them, the best time to search and apply, and more top tips on successfully securing a graduate job.
  • Getting CV Ready (2-3pm) Understand the key elements which make up a strong CV and Cover Letter, what employers are looking for and explore how we can support you to create your CV stress-free.
  • 留英求职宣讲会:中文讲座 | Introduction to your UK Job Search (in Mandarin Chinese) (3:30-4:30pm) 欢迎意向留英的同学参加Careers Service首次举办的中文求职讲座,了解留英求职的申请流程、常用网站与雇主要求,帮助你增强留英求职自信!

  • Behind Manchester's Doors for Graduates: Information session (11-11.30am) Our programme will give graduates an opportunity to visit organisations in Manchester allowing them to gain a 'behind the front door' view of a variety of businesses and recruiters in Manchester. In this session you'll get an overview of it, be able to ask questions and find out how to apply.
  • Next steps in the UK: Visa Information for International Students (12:30-1:30pm) A workshop dedicated to visas and immigration, delivered by specialist immigration solicitors in conjunction with our expert careers consultants.
  • LinkedIn Photoshoot (1-4pm) Come along to get your free linkedin headshot from a professional photographer! No need to register, just drop in anytime to The Atrium, First Floor, University Place.
  • CV Clinic (1-4pm) Have questions about your CV? Bring your CV to show our adivsors and we'll give you some quick advice on how to improve it.

  • Master’s and PhD Options after Graduation (1-2pm) Cover all the key points about Master's and PhD options to decide if it's right for you. We'll cover the differences between courses, where to find postgrad courses, how to choose between them and how to apply.
