What is Media Club?

Exclusively for University of Manchester students we invite leading industry practitioners each month to speak about key topics, their careers and getting into the sector. Sessions are normally held on weekday evenings between 5pm-6.30pm approx.

Why should I join?

You must be a member of The Media Club to receive invitations to these events. As a member, you will also receive notification of media events, industry news and opportunities.

    If you're interested in the media, and the communications industries generally, come along to find out more about Media Club and hear from industry professionals.
  • Media Club – a talk from award winning TV director and series producer, Julian Dismore (event id 6441) 5-6pm, Tuesday 27 October 2020
    Julian is an award winning TV director and series producer. He’s travelled the world making shows for BBC1, ITV, Channel 4, Five, Animal Planet, Sky, Nat Geographic and Discovery. His productions include ‘Crash Scene Investigators’ for ITV, ‘Missing Mums: Lorraine Kelly Investigates’ for Sky, ‘Caught Red Handed’ for BBC1 and many more. As well as revealing some amazing stories from his TV career, Julian will give you insider’s secrets about how to get into TV and the creative industries, especially in tough times like this.
    His talk includes ‘must know’ tips and essential advice for finding contacts, what to write in your introductory emails, how to ensure your CV punches through and job interview techniques. This is a one-off event so don’t miss out!
