The Careers Service is not just for undergraduates. We’re here to support Diploma, Masters and PhD students, too.

Whether you’re just starting out, are an experienced professional or a career changer we have the resources and people to help you manage and develop your career.

What we do FOR you

  • Research and write comprehensive online career information and support resources on our website
  • Blog and tweet news, opportunities, advice and events
  • Research the job market so we can keep you up to date on where and what the opportunities are
  • Network with employers and other professionals so we can provide you with timely information and advice
  • Organise lots of careers events and opportunities to meet employers

What we do WITH you

  • One-to-one guidance appointments where you can discuss your career plans (or lack of) in a confidential meeting with an impartial careers consultant
  • Interview simulations
  • Applications advice
  • You can always speak to one of our Information Specialists in the Atrium – no need to book, just come in
  • We run an astonishing array of events, workshops and fairs all through the year which are open to all students
  • We also offer workshops specially aimed at PGTs and PGRs

What you can do for YOURSELF

  • Take some time to think about your career aspirations before you graduate
  • Talk about your ideas and plans with friends, family, academics and others you trust and who can give you insight, advice, information and feedback
  • Use the resources and information on the Careers Service website
  • Attend events to find out information, learn career development skills and meet people
  • Try things out. Manchester (the University and the City) is full of opportunities to explore your options and learn new things (as well as make friends and have fun)
