Behind Manchester's Doors 2023
The Careers Service is offering a limited number of places on its Behind Manchester's Doors programme for 2023, exclusively for first year undergraduates at The University of Manchester.
A small group of students will have the opportunity to visit two organisations in Manchester operating within the sectors they're interested in. This allows them to gain a 'behind the front door' view of a variety of businesses and recruiters in Manchester.
As part of the visits, students will have the chance to find out more about the organisation, meet some of its employees and partake in a mini-project or case study where they will work in groups on a live issue that is important to the organisation.
Sector focus days are as follows:
Date | Sector focus |
Tuesday, 18 April 2023: | Advertising, marketing and PR |
Wednesday, 19 April 2023: | Government, charities and public sector |
Thursday, 20 April 2023: | Media and communications |
Tuesday, 25 April 2023: | Business and finance |
Wednesday, 26 April 2023: | Law |
How to apply?
Applications will open for the scheme on Monday, 13 March. Complete our short application form before midnight on Friday, 24 March 2023.
Applications are particularly encouraged from students who are in receipt of a bursary or finnacial support from the University.
Please note:
- Unfortunately not all applicants will be offered a place due to small group sizes.
- Participants will only be allowed a place on one visit day due to limited places available (10-12 each day). Therefore students should only apply for the sector day they are most interested in.
- Students should only apply for a place on the programme if they are able to attend the full day.
- All participants will be expected to attend a mandatory online training session on Monday, 17 April (1-1.30pm)
