How to prepare for the Asia Careers Insight Series webinar

  • Defining your own career goals, aims and aspirations
  • How to review and improve your CV
  • How to connect with prospective employers and introduce yourself in a professional way
  • How to develop your networking skills

What questions to ask during employer sessions?

We encourage you to join the live webinars in order to ask any questions you may have.

To give you an idea, you may want to consider asking the following

  • What skills or experience do you want candidates to highlight during the application/recruitment process?
  • What does your typical workday look like?
  • What are your organisation’s values?
  • What skills will I develop if I join your organisation?
  • Are there any opportunities for training or professional development?
  • Can you share some insights into the local labour market? Which sectors are growing and which are less in demand?
  • How has the pandemic affected recruitment/the way you work?

Please do not ask employers to share with you information around salaries as they are normally unwilling to do so. You should also refrain from making speakers uncomfortable by asking them to share their opinions around politics or delving into their private life.

How to follow up with speakers

Many recruiters and employers will be happy to share their contact details with you during their presentation. This way you can email them afterwards with any additional questions you may have or follow up with a CV and cover letter if they have not specified their recruitment process.

You may also want to consider connecting with them on LinkedIn or following their company page on social media such as Facebook, Twitter, WeChat and LinkedIn to keep up to date with their latest projects and any roles they are offering.

When connecting with recruiters/employers on WeChat or LinkedIn remember to be polite, use formal language and consider your business etiquette; phrase your messages the same way you would communicate over email.
