Manchester Gold

Manchester Gold has developed over the past six years into one of the largest Higher Education employability mentoring schemes in the UK. Highly praised by both recruiters and students, the programme provides excellent opportunities for you to meet with professionals from a wide range of sectors and industries.

Manchester Gold takes place over an academic year.  Learn more about what's involved.

Applications for 2009-10 are now open.  Applications will close at 5pm Wednesday 14th October 2009.

NEW: You can now view a list of our mentors and select your two preferred choices, based on their job title and organisation.  You will be asked to make your selection during the application process.  This is optional and you do not have to specify preferences if you do not wish to.

Who can apply?

The main Manchester Gold programme is open to all current students and postgraduates at The University of Manchester.

We also run separate specialist streams for diverse student groups who may have particular issues surrounding employability:

How to apply

Applications for 2009-10 are now open.  Closing date for applications - 5pm Wednesday 14th October 2009.

Apply online to the scheme you are most interested in. You can specify on the application if you would like to be considered for any of the other schemes, if your application to your preferred scheme is unsuccessful.

Please spend some time completing the application form as fully as possible. Treat it like a job application form, as potential mentors will see these forms. Manchester Gold is incredibly popular, with the ratio of applicants to mentors averaging 10 to 1.  Applications which contain careless mistakes and do not offer reasonable answers to the questions may be rejected.  If you would like any help or support with your application, please e-mail: careers@manchester.ac.uk or pop in and see a Careers Consultant (tel: 0161 275 2829).

Any additional information you can supply, such as extra-curricular activities or work experience, will support your application.
