Finding other graduate jobs

For organisations who recruit smaller numbers of graduates, having a 'graduate scheme' is not the best option, so they recruit directly into the relevant job. In addition, many jobs exist where there is no set requirement for a graduate, but your skills and education could be highly valuable.

Graduate schemes only account for a small proportion of entry level roles, so many more graduates enter the job market by applying directly for a job.

The Careers Service receives vacancies throughout the year. All vacancies are managed in our CareersLink system which enables students and alumni to search for vacancies and set up automatic email alerts to let them know about new vacancies matching their criteria.

Many job websites list graduate entry level roles or other jobs where a degree is not required. There may also be specific job sites for your chosen sector or region. Examples are The Jobs Mine, Monster, and Total Jobs.

Jobs requiring a degree are frequently advertised in the press. For example, the Manchester Evening News, Metro, The Guardian or The Times. These may sometimes require previous experience, however there are occasionally jobs for new graduates.

Also consider publications for the sector you are interested in. Sometimes graduate level positions are advertised there. See our sector information pages, or the industry information on Graduate Prospects website to help you get started in identifying these.

Job Centre Plus is a government organisation which helps you to find work. They have offices across the UK and a website with thousands of jobs. The nearest office to the University is 96 Wilmslow Rd, Rusholme. You can browse these vacancies on the national website Universal Jobmatch.
