Careers Service

Help by email

Information and advice are provided via email to current students and eligible graduates of the University of Manchester who are unable to use the Careers Service in person or by phone. (eg: unavoidable distance, disability and caring responsibilities). Graduates please check your eligibility.

  • Email us Using our request form.
  • Quote your university ID number.
  • Please state why you are unable to come in - this will have an impact on the type of resources and services you are referred to.

We aim to reply within five working days - excluding periods when the University is closed.

Help with CVs and applications by email

We can offer feedback on draft applications via email. In addition to the notes above please do the following:

  • Read our guidelines and handouts first. This will help you get the basics right so that we can concentrate on more specific advice.
  • Send your documents in MS Word so that we can write comments on them. If you cannot use MS Word please send a PDF.
  • State what job/course and organisation you are applying to and provide a link to, or attach the advert/person specification/job description. This will enable us to advise you on tailoring your application.
  • We cannot provide a detailed proof reading service for spelling, grammar and English correction.
  • We can provide feedback on up to 4 documents in a 30 day period only (this includes in-person appointments on our applications advice service).

Please note that students and recent graduates who are currently on campus or in the local area should use our Applications Advice Service.
