Did you enjoy your placement?

I enjoyed my placement more towards the end. In the beginning it was a shock to me as it was very different to what I learned in my modules at university. This is due to the nature of the NHS being very complex. Once I had got through the initial learning stage everything started to become easier and I began to enjoy getting more involved.

Would you recommend your employer to future students?

I would recommend this employer if you would like to gain more knowledge behind finance and accounting in health care as what I have learned is somewhat specific to the NHS. In contrast, the financial analysis and excel skills I have learnt whilst on placement can be transferred to other finance roles in the private sector or other Government bodies.

What advice would you give to students who are thinking about applying to the same role/company?

To do your research before any interviews for the NHS and make sure you are prepared to expand your knowledge of accounting and finance but also healthcare.
