Beth

HR Administrator at Elcometer

Give a quick snapshot of your role.

Within my current role, I work within the HR department of a family-run, manufacturing company. I co-ordinate many of the functions that HR are responsible for, including training, interviews, inductions, disciplinaries and formal hearings. Since starting in August 2016 my role has developed and grown with my strengths. I now have responsibility for the large majority of direct recruitment and I have gone on to actually advertise MGT roles within the business myself. I have developed my collaborative skills as I work with all areas and functions of the business. I answer HR queries for employees and managers within the company and I manage all relevant administration to the HR department.

Why did you choose MGT?

I liked that MGT specifically targeted Manchester graduates. I often found that jobs I applied for on job sites were wanting candidates with more experience than I had. I liked that, with MGT's, employers advertising jobs were expecting fresh graduates with limited experience, but the right attitude.

How have you benefitted from your MGT?

I am really enjoying my current role within the company, and I have already been on training. I am offered regular reviews in the company and there has been a discussion of my role going permanent.

What advice would you give someone considering MGT?

I would say go for it. Most MGT's are a year contract so a great opportunity for graduates to build up experience.

What are your plans for the future?

I am very happy in my role and I see a future with the company that I am currently in. It has been a great way to get some entry level experience in HR. It has been particularly useful as I experience all functions of HR since it is a smaller company. I have really enjoyed the opportunity and think it has been a great start a career in HR as I have been given a lot of responsibility that I may not have had elsewhere.
