Many employers use psychometric tests as part of their recruitment process.
This introductory session will explain what psychometric tests are and give you hints and tips to help you complete them successfully. It will include verbal, numerical and logical reasoning tests, situational judgement tests and personality assessments.

You will gain practical experience by attempting a number of specimen questions and discussing strategies and answers. You will also go away with details of other free practice tests on offer exclusively to University of Manchester students and the best ways to prepare.

Taking Employer Selection Tests – "Situational Judgement Test" Special Session

Over 45% of the major graduate employers are using situational judgement tests including the private and public sectors, some charities and even smaller companies too. Whether you are looking for internships or graduate roles, it pays to understand more about these tests and how to prepare.

This session will introduce you to this increasingly popular type of test, and will allow you to have a go at some sample questions and discuss possible answers. You will also go away with details of other free practice tests on offer to University of Manchester students and the best ways to prepare.

Fri 11 October 12-12.45pm Room 3.44A, Simon Building Event id: 5419
Thu 14 November 12-12.45pm Room 4.206, University Place Event id: 5421

If there are no additional dates available, you can use practice sites such as Graduates First. For links to other relevant practice sites, select on the type of test you will be taking.

Improving your performance (at work, in employer selection tests, or in groups) by understanding more about your personality

Understanding more about your personality preferences and learning style can help you to perform better, play to your strengths and work well with others, in teams and in groups. It can also give you an insight into the types of working environment that may suit you more and how to sell yourself more effectively to employers.

This session introduces you to the Type Dynamics Indicator (a personality assessment freely available to Manchester students) which is similar to the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and available for you to use free following the session. Many of our students really enjoy this session, so come along and try something different.

Wed 23 October 12-12.50pm Room 4.206, University Place Event id: 5420
